University of London External poor service...courier faster than technolgy!!!

Ms. Lester
How well a student have done at exams is not the issue here, it is quite obvious that the university administrators had not plan effectively to manage the online services.
Manpower planning, infrastructure needs, Help Desk services are some of the prerequisites for implementing these services.
This service has been implemented at most universities, so it is not IS Innovation at work here…it has been tried and tested already. This feature should have been taken as a “paid service” to students for planning of their academic studies rather than a favour to students.
As an alternative, results could have been published on Wednesday with two days of technical support to students or have the results online today with Help Desk support over the week-end.
The increase in fees for continuation registration and examinations over the years have brought no tangible additional service or benefits to students, so this year, I welcomed this initiative by the university.
The responsibility of the university should include the timely delivery of examination results and should be adopted into the Regulations and Students handbook with a specific date.
I would dispatch a formal correspondence to the university administrators regarding this matter with some recommendations for managing this feature as a “paid service’ to students throughout the world.

Technolgy and online results

Its rather puzzling to learn that the official UOL results would be dispatched before the results are posted online because the results would have had to be in an electronic format prior to dispatch….this is a case of technology working much, much slower than the courier service….what are the benefits to students?
There must be an immediate need to review the work-flows, business processes etc for improving the efficiency and effectiveness in this area of the university. The university administrators are fully aware of number of scripts to be handled as early as in February each year.
I would be more than happy to make a few suggestions to have this crucial aspect resolve for the benefit of students all over the world….this maybe an ideal case for business process engineering (BPR)!!!

Frustration over exam results

There is still a mystery on the date when the examination results from the University of London would be online.....I have difficulty with this situation, as the dates for payment for your registration, continued registration, examination fees etc. are very specific with the dates and students are expected to comply or face the consequences....yet, the date for examination results continue to be at the discretion of the university with no clear feedback to students and just when students all over the world are expecting some form of communication, the Portal Team has undertaken "essential maintenance" on the email module until the 28 August.

Technology and its use

The availability and access to students examination results would be accomplished for the first time via online from the university.
Even though some credit should be attributed to the university's administrator(s), it should be noted that the process for having these results available have not improve the time students have to await their results.
The explanation given by the university administrator(s) has been the number of scripts to be completed and the review stages and the subsequent approval by the Board of Examiners.
The issue of when examination results are "due" still has been unanswered; no one can confirm when this process would be completed or even announced when the Board of Examiners are expected to approve the results.
My concern is and would continue to be the fact that there is no deadline for publishing examination results even with the use of technology.

Exam Results

This year exam results would be critical to my completion of the Information Systems and Management degree in 2010.
I have already started my final year research project on Data Management in the Oil & Gas Industry and I'm expecting the Examiners would agree with my scripts from my last exams.
Much of the Units completed have been quite challenging but also rewarding for most parts as it afforded me the opportunity to acquire broader perspectives for analysis and evaluation of business processes for improving on current practices.
It is an uneasy period for most students who are currently awaiting their results as most of the Units are prerequisites to further Units.
I wish all UOL students, challenge yourselves to improving on your quality of work.
